James I. Guinn, age 52, of 294 Mack Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on September 28, 1951 in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late Ivan and Mary Nell Arnold Guinn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Guinn. James was a former employee of the Mountain City Glove Plant and of Maymead, but had worked for the past eleven years as a boiler operator at the Northeast Correctional Center. James loved the outdoors. James was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. James is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda Stout Guinn of the home; one sister, Debbie Guinn; one brother, Hearley Guinn and wife Nancy, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; three nephews, Randall Darnell, Kevin Guinn and Brandon Guinn and special friend, Jeff Carico. Funeral Services for James will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Wilson and friend, Mike Long to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2004 from the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Maintenance Department of the Northeast Correctional Center. Honorary Pallbearers are: Danny Eller, Burnest Trivette, Bob Fletcher, Joey Stout, Blake Stout, Kevin Icenhour, Walter Cox, Odell Guinn, Dannie Guinn, Oscar Guinn, Thomas Mallory, Russell Lewis and Ron Wilson. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Saturday prior to Services at the Funeral Home. At other times, friend may call at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.hux-lipford.com.
