We are saddened by the passing of James Franklin Harper, age 83, of Mountain City, Tennessee. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 8, 2023. James was born June 13, 1939 in Johnson County, Tennessee to the late Jesse Franklin Harper and Rosalee Shupe Harper.
He was a member of First Christian Church. He was a carpenter by trade, he loved woodworking, was a former school bus driver for Johnson County and worked at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home for several years. James was a graduate of Johnson County High School class of 1957. He was a United States Army Veteran and member of Taylorsville Masonic Lodge # 243 F & AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Lee Harper; three sisters, Elsie Jenkins, Virginia Morefield and Helen Harper; nephews, Lonnie Jenkins, Dean Morefield, Benny Morefield, Kevin Pardue and Steven Pardue, great nephew, Chris Morefield and great niece, Angie Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Janet Pardue Harper; nieces and nephews, Paul Jenkins, Gene Jenkins, Robert Jenkins, Jeff Pardue, Darren Pardue, Zack Pardue, Bobby Morefield, Brian Pardue, Evelyn Allen, Linda Campbell, and several great nieces and nephews; Brothers- in -laws, Terry Pardue (Sabrina) and Ronnie Pardue (Jayne). Special friends include; Bill Pope, Tim Laws, Dale Moody, Steve Arnold, Willie Phipps, work family at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home and many more special friends.
Funeral services for James will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel, the family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 pm with Pastor Dwayne Dickson to officiate. Masonic funeral rights will follow the service. Graveside service will follow and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard in the Rainbow Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gene Jenkins, Paul Jenkins, Jeff Pardue, Darren Pardue, Bill Pope and Wayne Lewis.
Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Jenkins, Steve Arnold, Brian Allen, Sam Allen, Todd Cross, Terry Pardue and Ronnie Pardue.
