James John Brown

James John Brown, age 79, of 968 Jenkins Hollow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Ashe County, NC on June 6, 1935, to the late Elzie J. Brown and Ethel Payne Brown. In addition to his parents, his brothers, Albert Brown and Burl Brown, and son-in-law, Doug Eastridge, preceded him in death. He was a lifetime member of 50+ years of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243, Scottish Rights, as well as Shriners. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoor person who loved spending time going to yard sales and flea markets as well as planting flowers outdoors and gardening. He also found a great deal of enjoyment collecting knives, figurines, and many other items. He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and spent most of his time with them when he could. Most of all he loved his heavenly father, God our Savior. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myrtle Emeline Eller Brown, of the home; one son James E Brown and wife Jennifer Brown; two daughters Daris Eastridge Potter and husband Steve Potter, Angie Brown Jones and husband Chris "Critter" Jones all of Mountain City, TN. He had seven grandchildren Tonya Hernandez and husband Michael Hernandez of Jacksonville Florida, Brad Eastridge and wife Tabatha Eastridge, Chassie Timbs and husband Danny Timbs, Chris Brown and wife Stephanie Brown, Kayden, Casen, and Raylen Jones all of Mountain City, TN. He had eight great grandchildren Jesse and Olivia Hernandez, Aaron and Caitlin Duke, Braden Eastridge, Katie and Ezekiel "Zeak" Timbs, baby Brown (to come). Two sisters and one Brother: Fay Greer, May South, and Howard Brown and wife Bessie Brown all of Mountain City, TN and many nieces and nephews. Special "adopted" grandchildren Kayla Ruddy, Andrew and Rebecca Reece, Jayden Anderson, and Haley Jones. Special friends include Denise Ruddy, Joyce and Grace Potter, Bob Rominger, Lena Helen Dugger, Missy Jones and many others. Visitation will be at First Freewill Baptist Church, 336 Hemlock Street, Mountain City, TN from 6-8pm on Friday, November 7, 2014. Funeral will be conducted on Saturday November 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm at First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Poe, Rev.Ted Lewis, and Rev. Frank Woods officiating with a Masonic service to follow. Music will be provided by Tabatha Eastridge, Jerry Horne, and granddaughter Chassie Timbs. Graveside service will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Active pallbearers are Brad Eastridge, Chris Brown, Danny Timbs, Steve Potter, Chris Jones, Jesse Hernandez, Aaron Duke, and Bob Rominger. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Hernandez, Howard Brown, Charlie Brown, Bob and Jack Eller, Mikey Jones, Tony Dugger, Jim Potter, Dr. Whitlock, and Daniel Jones. The family also expresses deep appreciation to members of the Johnson Co. Rescue Squad, Dr. Whitlock, Daniel Jones, Amedisys Home Health, and Amedisys Hospice.
