James Ross "Mose" Thomas, age 57, of 408 South Church Street, Mountain City, TN, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Johnson County, he was born on August 1, 1948, to the late Aaron Vance and Ethel Greene Thomas. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Thomas, wife, Lessie Opal Holman Thomas, two brothers, Grady and Alfred Thomas, and one sister, Beulah Stout. James was employed by the Fairfield Chair Company, and was a member of the Heath Union Church. James is survived by his former wife, June Holloway; two sons: Doug and Brad Thomas, both of Mountain City; two step-sons: David and Bobby Holman, both of Mountain City; one step-daughter, Brenda Cox, Mountain City; two sisters: Della Ray Bryant, Modena PA, and Judy Thomas, Saltville, VA; three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for James Thomas will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Keith Johnson, Roy Dunn, Dean Thomas, Jamie Fletcher, Bobby Holman, and David Holman. Honorary Pallbearers are: Junior Sluder, Alf Wilson, Gene Greer, Ralph Matheson, Harold Phillippi, Dick Johnson, Coleman Brown, Dr. Flint Gray, Dr. Tim Daily, Dr. Yvonne Mack, and employees of the Fairfield Chair Company. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 6-8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home.
