James Loyd Roberts, age 54, of 339 Industrial Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2005 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on October 4, 1950 in Johnson County to the late Fred and Maggie "Mossie" Walker Roberts. In addition to his parents, Loyd was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Roberts; one sister, Barbara Ruth Roberts and a wife, Rhonda Widener Roberts. He was a former employee of the Johnson City Press. Loyd enjoyed fishing, camping and coon hunting. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Loyd is survived by his wife, Kathy Blevins Roberts; three daughters: Jolene Roberts, Mountain City, Tn, Crystal Roberts Watson and husband Eric, Butler, Tn, Brandy Nicole Roberts and fianc Gene Benfield, Lenoir, NC; two sons: Gary Wayne Roberts and fianc Wendy Messer, Lenoir, NC and Johnny Paul Roberts, Creston, NC; four stepchildren: Russell Adams, Konnarock, VA, Teresa Adams, Greenville, SC, Tracy Eldreth and Michael Bumgardner, both of Trade, Tn; two sisters: Sissy Roberts, Johnson City, Tn and Della Courtner and friend Stewart Clark, Mountain City, Tn; two brothers: Pete Roberts, Butler, Tn and Johnny Mark Roberts and wife Vanessa, Hampton; fourteen grandchildren: Austin, DJ and Preston Watson, April, Amy, Gary Jr.,Jessie, Brittany and Mary Jane Roberts, Baby Benfield, Jordan and Kendra Roberts. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral Services for James Loyd Roberts will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Simcox and Rev. David Bentley to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Fletcher Family. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005 from the Roberts Cemetery. Family, Pallbearers and Friends are asked to assemble by 9:15 a.m. on Saturday to go in procession. Active Pallbearers will be: Stewart Clark, Howard Courtner, Gene Benfield, Austin Watson, Gary Roberts Jr., Curtis Blevins and Marty Norris. Honorary Pallbearer are: Michael Norris, Eric Watson, Mike McNeal, Joe Norris, Freddy Brewer and Dr. Hamati. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to Services at the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call 1570 Hwy 67 North, Trade, Tennessee 37691 or 3464 Hwy 321, Butler, Tennessee 37640. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Loyd Roberts Memorial Fund, c/o Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home, 300 W Main Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
