James Stedman Greever

James Stedman Greever, age 86, of 406 Butler Street, Mountain City, Tennessee Passed away on Monday, December 24, 2012 in Johnson City Medical Center. He was born November 20, 1926 to the late James T. Greever and Mattie Barry Greever. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his wife; Betty Joan Madron Greever; his sister Evelyn Walsh, and brother Clarence "Pete" Greever also a grandson David Greever. He was proprietor of Apple Hill Vineyard and Orchard and was retired from Levi of Mountain City, TN. Stedman was a County Commissioner having served for 26 years and an active member of the Lions Club. His hobbies included woodworking, camping and hunting. Stedman was a U.S. Army Veteran as well as merchant marine. Survivors include four sons: James Karl Greever, Robert Greever and wife Susie, John Greever and wife Carol and Lynn Greever and wife Lisa, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance with military honors by the Tennessee National Guard will be conducted on Friday December 28, 2012 from 4 until 6 p.m. in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his many friends who visited, brought food and meant so much to Stedman. For those who desire, in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683 or to the Levi Retirees of Johnson County, %Bill Adams, Mountain City, TN 37683.
