Jay Hugh Snyder, age 90, of 390 Adams Road, Mountain City passed away, Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in the Mountain City Care Center. Mr. Snyder was born May 31, 1916 to the late Carl and Dochia Wallace Snyder. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth Snyder and two sisters Elsie Wallace and Pauline Hayes. He was retired from the ASU University in Boone as a custodian and was a farmer. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and a Veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army. Survivors: include: Wife Mrs Ruth Snyder of Mountain City One son: Ed and wife Ann Snyder of Wilkesboro, NC One step-son: John Doyle of San Diego, California Two step-daughters: Ann Huggins of Chandler, Arizona Martha Lopez of Higgley, Arizona One brother: Bruce Snyder of Trade, TN Two grandchildren Six Step grandchildren Two great grandsons, eight step great grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews also survive Graveside services for Jay Hugh Snyder will be held 2:30 P. M. Thursday, February 8, 2007 from the Snyder-Rash Cemetery with Rev. Blaine Roark to officiate. Burial will follow in the Snyder-Rash Cemetery Pallbearers will be: Friends, Neighbors and Nephews Honorary Pallbearers will be: Thomas Snyder and Ethan Snyder The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p. m. Thursday prior going to the Cemetery for the services.
