Jerry C Smith

Jerry C. Smith, age 70, of 732 Eastridge Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born in Johnson County, Tennessee on May 9, 1935 to the late Fred W. and Minnie (Allen) Smith. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Smith and one brother, Ray Allen. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing. He was a former employee of Warners Nursery Tree Farm. Jerry attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He is survived by one sister, Bernice McFadden of the home; one brother, Elbert Bud Smith of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren: Amber Smith and Joseph Smith, both of Claymont, Delaware; two great grandsons; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Rob Greer of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. Funeral Services for Jerry C. Smith will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Steve McCready to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Choir. Interment will be in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Robby Carlson, Jeff Dickens, Doyle Carlson, Randy Meadows, Jay Pack and Mark Carlson. Honorary Pallbearers are: Frank Eller, Barry Garland and Steve Carlson. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the Services. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 732 Eastridge Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Smith Memorial Fund, c/o Farmers State Bank, 100 West Main Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
