Jesse Gene Holden, age 76, of 2319 Johnson Hollow Road, Mountain City passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at his residence. He was born May 3, 1939 to the late Boonie Holden and Dovie Campbell Reece. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Caroll Holden, one brother, Mack Holden, and one sister, Rose Forrester. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved playing gospel and bluegrass music. Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Elsie Norris Holden; two daughters; Debbie Townsend and husband Rick of Mountain City and Drema Arnold and husband Steve also of Mountain City, three sisters; Mae Tester of Elizabethton, Sue Laws of Butler, and Hazel Vines of Michigan, two brothers; Bill Holden of Hampton and James Holden of North Carolina, six grandchildren; Adam Ward, Trinity Arnold, Steven Arnold, Jessie Corum and Joseph Hollyfield, and special niece Vanessa Roberts of Mountain City. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. from the Charlie B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Harvey White officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow the service from the Dugger Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Steve Arnold, Adam Ward, Rick Townsend, Johnny Norris, Joe Hollyfield, and Jesse Corum. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Amedisys.
