Jet Hieronymus

July 24, 1946 — February 22, 2016

Jet Hieronymus, age 69, of 841 Laurel Road, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 24, 1946 to the late James Harley Hieronymus Sr. and Wanda Bethany, Crawford of, Chattanooga, TN. Jet won 2 gold medals while participating in the U.S. Wheelchair Olympics. He had also earned 1000 career points in wheelchair basketball with the Sioux Wheelers in Sioux Falls, SD and a Tucson, AZ team. Jet also participated in wheelchair sports to include swimming, track and field, and winter sports. He enjoyed carpentry and wood working, painting, and scuba diving. He especially enjoyed playing cards and games with his family.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include: his wife Carol Hieronymus, three daughters: Sno Lin Rosalez and husband Steven, Sioux Falls, SD, Carol Marie Hieronymus, Johnson City, TN, and Cole Star Gladden and husband Mark, Mountain City, TN; four sons: Jet William Hieronymus and wife Crystal, Portland, OR, Nile James Hieronymus, Decatur, IL, Arow John Hieronymus and wife Laura, Blountville, TN. and Jes Allen Hieronymus and wife Leigh Anne Johnson City, TN, two brothers, Jimmy Hieronymus, Savannah, GA. and John Hieronymus, of Chattanooga, TN Grandchildren, Tyler Earp, Jacob Earp, Alex Gladden, Chloe Gladden, and Logan Gladden also survive.

A memorial service for Jet will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rainbow Mennonite Church with Pastor Gary Gambill officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
