Jimmy "Grampa" Butler Dugger

May 20, 1942 — September 17, 2024

Jimmy "Grampa" Butler Dugger, 82, known to many as J.B., lost  his battle to an  extended illness but entered his eternal rest on September 17, 2024.  Born on May 20, 1942 to Odis Levi Dugger and Parlea Greenwell Dugger.  He grew up in Butler, Tennessee.

In his late teens, Jimmy went north to find work.  There he met the love of his life, Carolyn Sellman Dugger.  They married July 3, 1962 and in April of 1969 moved back to Doe Valley where they built their lifetime legacy and raised three children and a granddaughter,  Linda Dugger (Jake), LaVonna Roush (Joey), Melody Campbell (Gary), Joel Dugger (Trela).

Jimmy was a hard worker.  When he was younger he worked in the foundry and mushroom houses.  After returning to Johnson county he became a tree cutter.  He was well known for his skill in felling trees and spent many years treading the mountains of Johnson and surrounding counties.  His passion was farming with most of his life spent growing tobacco and raising cattle.

The family was blessed to enjoy five generations.  He loved his grandchildren dearly.  They were the lights of his life.  He often took them to McDonalds for happy meals, to get cake, or for a country ride.  Addie spent most of her time with him.  He enjoyed Chunk  riding in the wheelchair with him.  Jimmy will be remembered as the one who always showed up.  He never missed special events, like birthdays, ballgames, and school and church events.  He enjoyed old vehicles and visiting new places.  He loved to travel and still talked about wanting to go west and to Ohio almost daily.  He loved to tell stories with many tales of his dad's moonshine shenanigans and wagon train trips.  He had a special pup, Dink.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of 35 years, Carolyn Sellman Dugger, his second wife, Mary Dugger, son in law, Billy Dugger, grandson in law, Marvin Roush III, his parents, and several brothers and sisters.

Four generations are left to cherish his memory, Addie Roush, Teigan Ashley, Bug Ashley, all of the home; Kiely Roush, Oliver Butler Roush, Tessa Roush-Deloach(Allen), Alice Roush-Deloach, Stephin Dunn Jr. (Jerri), Brianna, Stephin III, Emma, Zayden, Zaylee, Pauletta Dunn Forrester (Doug), Carlie, Ryker, Robbie, Synthia, Kandra, Azarei, and many extended family and his beloved, pup dink
