Jo Ann Phillips

b. February 19, 1940

Jo Ann Phillips, age 68, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 in Glen Bridge Health Care in Boone, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Ezra Treadway. Her hobbies included crafts and crocheting.  Jo Ann will be known for her years of caring for others through her nursing career. She worked many years as an LPN, eventually going back to school and getting her BS in Nursing while raising her two sons and caring for her elderly mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Phillips and a brother, Bill Williams.

 

Survivors include: one son: Carl Phillips and wife Lisa of Kingsport, Tennessee; grandchildren: Madison Phillips, Allison Phillips, Tanner Phillips and Jake Phillips. Several nieces and nephews and special friends Mary, Sharron, Carolyn and Shirley also survive.

 

A memorial service for Jo Ann Phillips will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral with Mr. Richard Moorhouse officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society,  Farmers State Bank, Attn:Lynn Cuddy, P.O. Box 9, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683 or the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.

 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Whitlock for his years of friendship and caring, Sheila, Sherry, and the Nursing Staff at Watauga Medical Center
