Joe Franklin, age 66, of 721 J. Shoun Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on June 2, 1939 in Morganton, North Carolina to Pansy Townsend Franklin of Marion, North Carolina and to the late William Bo Franklin. Joe was a truck driver for Broyhill Furniture Company. He was a Nascar fan and loved fishing. Joe was a member of the Love Lady Baptist Church of Hudson, North Carolina and attended New Hope Baptist Church of Mountain City. In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his wife, Sylvia Howard Franklin of the home; two daughters: Sheri Pope of Hudson, NC and Debbie Looper and husband Tim of Granada, NC; two sons: Terry Joe Franklin of Charlotte, NC and Gary Franklin and wife Lynn of Granite Falls, NC; two step-sons: Jason Parsons and wife Teresa of Damascus, VA and James Parsons and wife Crystal of Beckley, West VA; former son-in-law; David Pope of Lenoir, NC; several sisters and brothers, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Joe Franklin will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2005 from the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Stidham and Rev. Henry Potter to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Shelton Cemetery, Creston, North Carolina. Active Pallbearers will be: Donald Bumgarner, John "Pooch" Howard, Albert Hague, Maynard Jenkins, Deanie Taylor and Timmy Church. Honorary Pallbearers: Liston Parker, Larry Clevenger, Gary Franklin, Dick Jenkins, David Pope and Loyd Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 721 J.
