Joe David Grindstaff, age 59, of Butler, Tennessee and formerly of 6180 Ridge Road, Tobaccoville, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 following an extended illness. He was born on May 26, 1946 in Johnson County, Tennessee to the late Vaught and Elizabeth Sullivan Grindstaff. In addition to her parents, Joe was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Pearl Lunceford Henson. Joe was a 1964 Graduate of Johnson County High School. He enjoyed racing especially drag racing and the Nascar Circuit. He was a former owner of a Nascar Bush Racing Team. Joe was also a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran. Joe is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Lee Grindstaff and adopted son Christopher Campbell Grindstaff, of the home; children: Marla Grindstaff of Butler, Tennessee, Mitchell Grindstaff of Walnut Cove, North Carolina and David Grindstaff of Nashville, Tennessee; one sister, Brenda Pass and husband Jim of Butler, Tennessee; one brother, Robert Grindstaff and wife Tammy of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee; His best little buddy, Steven Parker; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Private Services were held on May 10, 2006 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Slemp officiating. Entombment followed from the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made 'In Memory of Joe' to: Gideons, P.O. Box 155, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
