Joey Matheson

Joey Matheson passed away on October 12, 2026, at the age of 52.

Joey was born on December 30, 1973. He will be remembered as someone who found joy in music and in the simple pleasures that brought people together. He enjoyed playing video games and loved both listening to and playing all kinds of music. A drummer, Joey expressed himself through rhythm and shared that gift with others. In the 1990s, he and his family were part of a gospel quartet, a meaningful chapter that reflected both his love of music and the bonds he shared with those closest to him. He also worked as a nursing assistant, serving others through his care and dedication.

Joey was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Edward Matheson; his mother, Judith Carter Matheson; and his sister, Romana Lynn Kelly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his fiance, Kristal Stewart; daughter, Katie Odoms; sons, Kenneth Matheson III and Kyle Stewart  (Katlyn); grandchild, Mark Alaxander Stewart; niece, Lucille Kelly; nephew, Carter Kelly; and special friend, Allison Walker.  

Per Joey's wishes there will be no formal services.
