John D Davis

John D. Davis, Sr of Mountain City, TN, passed away on April 4, 2024 at the age of 90.  He is survived by his wife, Wanda Mullins Davis, son John (Terri), granddaughters, Kelly and Holly Davis, brother, Morris Davis, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his father, William C. Davis of Damascus, VA, and mother, Kate Snyder Davis of Shady Valley, TN, six brothers, and two sisters.

John served in the US Army in Korea in 1953-1955.  He worked as a technician with DuPont in Newark, DE before retiring to Mountain City.  He attended Bethany Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and enjoyed sharing the Gospel at nursing homes with the church choir.  John also played guitar and led a weekly music event at The Mountain City Community Center for several years.  John had a spontaneous wit and enjoyed putting a smile on children of all ages.

Funeral services for John will be held at Bethany Baptist Church on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2 pm with Dr. Gale Hartley officiating.   The family will receive friends from 1 pm - 2  pm prior to the service.  Graveside service  will follow at the Brookshire Cemetery on Campbell Road in Doe Valley, TN with Military Honors to be accorded by The Johnson County Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Davis, Matthew DeFilippis, Mark DeFillippis, Darryl Junge, Jamie Phillippi, Shawn Jones and John Brookshire.

Honorary Pallbearers are Randy Arnold, Larry Davis and his friends at The Johnson County  Senior Citizens Center.
