John Robert Eldreth, age 57, of 300 A Davis Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Saturday, January 07, 2004 following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born April 28, 1946 to the late Lettie Eldreth. John was employed by Northeast Correctional Center, enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and laughing. He was of the Baptist Faith. John was preceded in death by his mother, one sister; Bonnie Hutton of Meadowview, Virginia and one brother Elmer Eldreth of Mountain City, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife Norma Jean Proffitt Eldreth of the home, two step-sons; Kevin T. Potter and Tim Osborne both of Mountain City, Tennessee, four sisters; Irene Eldreth Cox of Mountain City, Tennessee, Earlene Eldreth Farmer and Shirley Eldreth Cornett both of Jefferson, North Carolina and Nina Mae Eldreth Farmer of Creston, North Carolina, one brother; Fred Eldreth of Mountain City, Tennessee, two step- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, special friends; Inmates of the Northeast Correctional Center Warehouse and many other special friends. Funeral Services for John Robert Eldreth will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 09, 2004 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. James Greer to officiate. Music will be under the direction of The Fletcher Family. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. prior to services. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2004 from the Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be: Jason Shell, Elonza Perkins, Thomas Farmer, Dwayne Farmer, Wayne Lunceford and Dean Rhymer. Honorary Pallbearers are: Allen Hopkins, Jack Stout, Earl Davis, Rev. Frank Woods, Ronnie Nichols, Darrel Colson, Shane Reece, Dr. Donald Tarr, Homer Shell, Teddy Hardin, Gary Hodge and Robert Jones. Friends may also call at the residence anytime.
