John Howard Burrow, Jr.

October 3, 1949 — February 26, 2014

John Howard Burrow, Jr., age 64, of San Antonio, TX and formerly of Mountain City, TN passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in San Antonio, TX. He was the son of the late John Burrow, Sr. and Pauline Burrow. John was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in Libya and Germany. He was a 35 year employee of Burligton Industries. He was of the Baptist faith and was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church while living in Tennessee. John loved spending time with his grandbabies, gardening, meeting people and exploring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Charles Burrow. Survivors include: his wife, Katherine Manuel Burrow, of the home; daughter: Katie Ellison and husband Jeremy of San Antonio, TX; son: Jonathan Burrow of San Antonio, TX; four sisters: Barbara Proffitt and husband Tip of Mountain City, TN; Glenda Smith and husband Dean of Hampton, TN; Betty Farthing and husband John of Mountain City, TN; and Paula Stewart and husband Randy of Mountain City; grandchildren: Makenzie Burrow, Hayleigh Ellison and Sawyer Ellison; mother-in-law: Dorthy Manuel; father-in-law: Louis Manuel; brothers-in-law: Tim Manuel and wife Jacquie and Bud Manuel and wife Pam. Many special nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for John Howard Burrow, Jr. will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014 from Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Military graveside service accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be held Monday, March 3, 2014 in Brookshire Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jordan Farthing, David J. Leonard, Bud Manuel, Tim Manuel, Micah Manuel, Brian Smith, Bill (Snooks) Burrow, Jr., Donald Leonard, Tip Proffitt, Randy Stewart and John Farthing. Honorary pallbearers will be Roby Phillippi, Harold Phillippi, Harold Gentry, Jerry and Terry Jordan, John Hartley, Caleb Farthing and Aaron Manuel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Gideons International. At other times friends may call at the residence of his sister, Barbara Proffitt, 1278 Sprucy Lane, Mountain City, TN 37683.
