John Norris, Jr.

John "Joe" Norris, age 60, of 219 Long Road, Shady Valley, TN passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 in Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of Nannie Mae Church Norris and the late John Worley Norris, Sr. Mr. Norris attended Calvary Baptist Church. His hobbies included mechanic work, gardening, and spending time with his granddaughter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Dean Norris and James Allen Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: three daughters: Karen Leister and Mandy Norris, both of Oxford, PA; and Leanne Jackson of Northeast, MD; two sons: Joseph Norris and Jonathan Norris, both of Creston, NC; four sisters: Alice Norris, Marie Porter and Wilma Dowell, all of Mountain City, TN and Earlena Reivera of Oxford, PA; one brother: Calvin Norris of Damascus, VA. Eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, special friends Richard Walsh, Tom Dixon, Earl Dunn and his beloved dog Baby also survive. Funeral services for John "Joe" Norris will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. James Pardue officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 from Brown Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Norris,Christopher Martin, Tom Dixon, Trey Norris, Travis Norris and Ricky Norris. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Dehart and Richard Walsh.
