John Potter, age 88, of 6103 Hwy 421 South, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at the Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethton, Tennessee following a brief illness. A native of West Virginia, he was born May 15, 1915 to the late Roby and Jane Woodards Potter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Verna Wilson Potter; one brother, James Potter; two sons, Russell Wilson and Elwood Potter and one daughter, Shirley Main. John was a retired farmer and coal miner. He enjoyed making crafts. He was of the Baptist Faith. John served in the CC Camps of Army Corp of Engineers. John is survived by one daughter, Freda Price of Mountain City, Tennessee; one sister, Crissie Price also of Mountain City, Tennessee, twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for John will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Fuenral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Campbell to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004 from the Parks Cemetery, Dotson Road, Trade, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be: Reed McFadden, Steve Potter, Ben Price, Freddy Potter, Rusty Nelson and Karl Osborne. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home Prior to Services. Family and Friends are asked to assemble at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Parks Cemetery for Graveside Services.
