John David Woodard

We are saddened to announce the passing of John David Woodard, age 87, on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at NHC Farragut Health Care Center in Knoxville, TN. He was born July 15, 1935 in Mountain City, TN to the late David Grover Woodard and Verna Woodard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Baxter Woodard, Bill Woodard and Albert Woodard and his sisters, June Williams and Ann Hazlett. John was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. In his younger years he enjoyed boating and was Owner and operator of Heavy Duty Tool Sales at Woodard Interprises Those left to cherish his memory include his precious wife of 65 years, Bonnie Lee Woodard; son, David Leslie Woodard of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Shiela Rhea Woodard of South Windsor, CT; brothers, Gordon Macrhea (Mack) Woodard of Mountain City, TN; two grandchildren, Grace Emilia Smith of South Windsor, CT and Mason Bennett Smith of South Windsor, CT and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 1-2 pm in the Buford Lipford Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. Following the visitation everyone will assemble at Sunset Memorial Park at 2:30 pm for Military Graveside Honors to be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
