Johnny C. Baker, passed away on July 1, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on December 15, 1947, in Mountain City, Tennessee, where he cultivated deep roots and a love for his community. He was preceded in death by his parents, John David Baker and Kathleen Wolfe Baker and granddaughter, Jayla Baker.
Johnny was not only a dedicated professional as a respected supervisor for Snap-On Tools and a devoted family man but also a passionate individual with a variety of interests that enriched his life. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, hunting, boating, and fishing, and he was a big fan of Chevrolets. Johnny’s love for these hobbies reflected his vibrant personality and adventurous spirit.
In addition to his professional achievements, he was proud of his accomplishments in the community and within his faith. Having been saved in the summer of 1968, he was a cherished member of Little Doe Baptist Church. His commitment to service extended beyond his faith; he was recognized as a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and had dedicated 46 years to Lodge 679, demonstrating his strong sense of brotherhood and community service.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nita, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. He is also survived by his sons, Jonathan Baker (Rebecca), Jason Baker (Jessica), and Jeff Baker (Amanda). His sister, Lisa Main (Ray), will forever cherish their bond. Johnny was a proud grandfather to Jacob (Margaret Marrow), Jodi (Sam Allen), Jackson (Cassidy Marshall), David, Bethany, Josie, and Abigail, and a great-grandfather to Keenan. He is also remembered fondly by his nephew, Sawyer, and a circle of special friends, including Eddie Williams, Brandon Williams, Bill Ellis, Bobby Garland, and many others who were fortunate to know him.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Johnny’s life at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on July 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Reverend Kreg Smith and Reverend Dennis Peterson to officiate. Masonic Rites will be conducted following the funeral service. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Bakers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
