View this Video Tribute Mr. Joe Barlow, age 55 of 1468 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, Tennessee went home to be with his Heavenly Father and Savior from the Johnson City Medical Center on Friday September 18, 2009 from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident while performing and carrying out his talent and love in the line-of-duty. Besides being a great husband, father, poppie and friend to everyone, he enjoyed hunting, four wheeling and especially his grandbaby. Joe was the Vice Deputy Director of the Johnson County Rescue Squad and EMS. He was a certified EMTIV. Joe is preceded in death by his father Roger Dallas Barlow and maternal grandparents Ross and Marie Wilcox and paternal grandparents Ralph and Edna Barlow.
Joe is survived by a wonderful wife and family: Mona R. Barlow of the home; his daughter and son-in-law Kelly Jo and Eric Odom; his beautiful grandson Paycen Odom all of Johnson City, TN; his mother Marcelean Wilcox Barlow DeBord of Mountain City, TN; Three sisters: Nancy Bentley and her husband Eddie of Boone, NC; Alice Ward and her husband Gary of Mountain City, TN and Beulah Barlow of Creston, NC. Two brothers: Willie DeBord and his wife Betty of Trade, TN and Roy DeBord and his wife Amy of Boone, NC. Joe is also survived by several nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends Beyond measure….
Funeral services for Joe will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 beginning at
8:00 p.m. in the Johnson County High School Gymnasium with Reverend Stephen Spencer and Mr. Michael Icenhour to officiate. A Eulogy will be delivered by his brother Willie DeBord. Special music will be sung by his niece Lindsey DeBord. The highest honors of a graveside service and interment given to EMS personnel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from the Sunset Memorial Park of Mountain City, TN. The funeral Procession will begin at 10:15 a.m. from the Calvary Baptist Church. The Body will lie-in-state the morning of the interment in the Sanctuary of the Calvary Baptist Church from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. prior to the Procession. Active pallbearers announced will be all members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad and EMS, Ed Townsend and Tim Holt. Honorary pallbearers are the Emergency Services in all cities and counties, the members of the medical field, members of Calvary Baptist Church and the Longhorn Football Team of Johnson County High School and the coaching staff. A special Thanks to the ER and ICU Staffs.
The family will begin receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Johnson County High School Gymnasium. The family insists that no one will be turned away if time becomes a factor.
Friends are welcome to come by their home at 1468 Cold Springs Road and visit at anytime.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be given to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. These donations will go to help fund additional emergency equipment that could be instrumental in the saving of someone’s life.
