Joseph Smith

Joseph Smith, age 72, of 2075 Dug Hill Road, Mountain City, TN passed away, Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1944 to the late Wade Washington Smith and Emma Ivy Tester Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Billy Smith, Ned Smith, and James Smith, one sister; Betty Mae Campbell, one daughter; Brenda Madrigal, and his grandparents, Tennessee Tester and Rebecca Jane Tester. Joseph was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, farming, and gardening.

Survivors include; five daughters: Judy Fuentes of Wilkesboro, NC, Bobbie Laws of Bristol, VA, Joyce Sluder, Peggy Brown, and Lois Fisher, all of Mountain City, TN, four sons: Joseph Robert Smith, Jr. of Honeybrook, PA, Wade Smith of Lancaster, PA, Larry Laws, and Joshua Gilley, both of Mountain City, TN, three sisters: Jane Johnson, of Oxford, PA, Donna Atwood of Knottingham, PA, and Barbara Jean McCloud of Mountain City, TN, and special friends Shirley Wagner and Linda Morefield. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

There will be a memorial service to honor Joseph, Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Harry Wills officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
