She was born on May 31, 1936 in Mountain City, Tennessee, to the late James Church and Arrie Swift Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Church and Claude Church, and a sister, Anna Pearl Miller. Mrs. Hedger was a retired executive secretary at The Drawing Board of Dallas, Texas. She had attended The Community Church of Mountain City and enjoyed reading and traveling. Mrs. Hedger is survived by a husband, Lynn Hedger of the home; one daughter, Holly Shewmake of Wills Point, Texas; and one son, Mark Steven Newkirk of Houston, Texas; Four Sisters, Stella Smiley of Mountain City, Lois Gurney of Mountain City, Marjorie Church of Mountain City, and Della Mae Magnus of Saskatchewan, Canada; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services for Mrs. Hedger will be conducted on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 2:00pm from the Wilson Cemetery with Rev. Ron Drake to officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul and Wanda Arnold, Sissy Ely, Mike Shewmake, Bill Gandy, and Earl Campbell. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 1:45 for graveside services. The family will receive friends at the family residence at 1706 Swift Hollow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, 37683 at any time. For those who desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Mrs. Trula Muse, 239 Sunset Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, 37683.
