Junior "Dean" Denney, age 57, of 115 Fox Hollow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Johnson County Community Hospital. He was born on June 13, 1949 in Ashe County, North Carolina, to Ruby Stanley Noland of Mountain City, Tennessee and the late Delmer Denney. In addition to his father, Dean was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Denney. He was a former employee of Maymead. Dean enjoyed the outdoors, loved going fishing and also raised chickens. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Dean was a member of God's Country Church. In addition to his mother, Ruby Stanley Noland, Dean is survived by his wife, Barbara Denney, of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law: Tina and Ronnie Hicks, Tammy and Ronnie Dunn, Jennifer and Don Lewis and Amanda and Paul Gentry, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Verna Denney, also of Mountain City, Tennessee; four step-daughters: Tammy Stout, Julie Lunceford, Callie Smith and Beckie Dickens, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; three sisters: Susie Johnson, Linda Taylor, both of Mountain City, Tennessee and Betty Joe Farmer of Damascus, Virginia; sixteen grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many, many special friends and neighbors. Funeral Services for Junior "Dean" Denney will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2007 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Ronnie Manuel and Mr. Bob Stout to officiate. Music will also be under the direction of Mr. Ronnie Manuel. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the Services, at the funeral home. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007 from the Burnt School House Cemetery, Ashe County, North Carolina. Active Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Hicks, Jeff Denney, Don Lewis, Paul Gentry Jr., Mark Roark, Johnny Stout, Matthew Adams and Theo Hensley. Honorary Pallbearers are: Matt Smith, Chad Dickens, Tommy Pardue and Ricky Pardue. Those attending Graveside Services are asked to assemble by 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
