Kate Curd Hicks

September 6, 1936 — January 20, 2014

Kate Curd Hicks, age 77, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Claude S. Curd and Ava M. Roark Curd. Kate was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, flowers and especially enjoyed her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Randy Hicks and a brother-in-law Ernest Fritts. Survivors include: her husband of 62 years Gene Hicks; daughter: Sherry Potter and husband Darrell of Mountain City, TN; son: Mike Hicks and wife Dee of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter-in-law Jennifer Hicks of Marietta, OH; sister: Lena Fritts of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Olivia Hicks, Jared Hicks, Adam Cornett and Abby Hicks; step grandson Christopher Potter; great grandson Wyatt Hicks, several family members and special friend Betty Dickey. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Cunningham officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Mike Hicks, Darrell Potter, Adam Cornett, Christopher Potter, Richard Fritts, Chris Reece and Jared Hicks. Interment will be in Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014. We will assemble at the cemetery at 1:30 p.m. for the committal service at 1:45 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Wanda Laws, the staff at Mountain City Care Center, Dr. Suzanna Shine and the doctors and staff at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
