Kate Loggins, age 90, of 904 Sundown Road, Mountain City, TN, passed away on December 16, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Johnson County, she was born on December 15, 1915 to the late Roby and Mary (Pleasant) Lee. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Loggins; one brother, Walter Lee; and one sister, Ina Mullins. Ms. Loggins was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church, and also a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and loved volunteering at the nursing home. Survivors include 1 daughter, Dorthy Manuel; 3 grandchildren: Katherine Burrow and husband John; Brad Manuel and wife Pam; and Timothy Manuel; 5 great-grandchildren: Aaron, Micha, and Sara Manuel, Katie Ellison, and Jonathan Burrow; 3 nieces: Virginia Phillippi, Wanda Davis, and Earlene DeFillippis; 2 nephews: Curtis Mullins, and Hubert Loggins; and a special friend, Lou Long. Funeral Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, from the chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Mike Gregg and Mr. Jerry Horne. A visitation will be held from 7-8:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, from the Brookshire Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mike Fritts, Mike Gregg, Jerry Horne, James Brown, Kenny Gregg, and John Brookshire.
