Katherine Wills Snyder

Katherine Wills Snyder, age 89, of the Mountain City Care Center and formerly of 3876 Hwy 91 N, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, she was born on April 8, 1916 to the late Lewis Karl and Caroline "Kate" Phillips Wills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grant A. Snyder, who passed away in 1998; two brothers; John Russell Wills and Edward Eugene Wills and one sister, Minerva Wills McEwen. Katherine was a graduate of ETSU where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was a retried school teacher, having taught for 38 years throughout the Johnson County School System. Katherine was a member of the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association and a member and former Sunday school teacher at the First United Methodist Church of Mountain City and a member of the United Methodist Women's Circle. She was also a member of the Worley Hall VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post # 6908. Katherine loved to garden, can and bake. Katherine is survived by: one son, Lewis A. Snyder and wife Karen B. Snyder of Johnson City, Tennessee; one sister, Norma C. Wills of Mountain City, Tennessee; step-grandson, Jarrid D. Rollins and wife Erica of Franklin, Tennessee and their daughter Madison Elizabeth Rollins; three nephews: Gene Russell Wills, James Lewis Wills and Douglas Karl Wills; one niece; Carolyn Elaine Gibison; special friends: Emily Millsaps, Lois Greer and Lois Ann Adams. Funeral Services for Katherine will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005 from the Chapel of the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Wills and Rev. Larry Rye to officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to Services, at the Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005 from the Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Tennessee. Honorary Pallbearers are: Bud McComas, Greg Hopkins, Bill Moore, Jarrid Rollins, Ralph Greer, Gene Wills and Malcolm Howard. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Katherine's sister, Norma Wills, 929 Circle Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 128 N. Church Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683 or to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
