Keith Alan Mullen

July 21, 1968 — March 13, 2025

Keith Alan Mullen, age 56, passed away on March 13, 2025, at his residence, with his family by his side. He went to be with the Lord after courageously battling cancer for three years. He fought the good fight and kept the faith. Keith was born July 21, 1968, to Jim and the late Fran Mullen in Wilmington, Delaware. He grew up in Newark, Delaware but made his home in Mountain City for the last 34 years.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Teresa Mullen, and son, Noah Mullen, both of Mountain City, his father, Jim Mullen of Newark, and his three brothers: James Mullen of Newark, Shawn Mullen of Middletown, Delaware, and Brian Mullen and wife Kristie of Newark. Also included are his nephew, Hunter Mullen of Middletown, his nieces, Makenzie Mullen of Middletown and Angelina Mullen of Newark, his parents-in-law, Gene and Alma Hackney of Mountain City, and brother-in-law Steven Hackney and wife Rita of Zionville, North Carolina.

Keith was a jack-of-all-trades, knowing a little bit about everything. Many knew him from plumbing and owning Mullen’s Barbershop, but he loved being an EMT with Johnson County EMS the most. As a lifetime member of the rescue squad, his coworkers were an important part of his life and as close as family. He was always passionate about his work, going above and beyond his duties. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, also having many friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was a member for many years.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Services will be held by Jim Norman, Dan Little, and Will Kerley at 2:00 on the same day with the graveside by Deacon Joe Herman to follow. Music will be under the direction of vocalist Katherine Nichols, pianist Donna Fritts, flautist Makayla Fritts, and organist Elaine Moore.

Pallbearers will be Jake Story, Brad Gentry, Steven Hackney, Lee Greever, Shawn Mullen, and Hunter Mullen, with honorary pallbearers being James Mullen, Brian Mullen, and members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad.

At other times, friends and family may visit the home at 671 Circle Dr., Mountain City,
TN 37683.

The family wants to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice; his nurse, Laura Comeaux; Mica Brown; Duke University Oncology; and Tennessee Cancer Specialists.

Donations may be made in memory of Keith to the Johnson County Rescue Squad.
