Kenneth E. Courtner, age 46, of 910 King Avenue, Nyssa, Oregon, died Saturday, March 20, 2004 at the residence of his brother. A native of Johnson County, he was a son of Walt Courtner of Butler and the late Mary Robinson Courtner, who died in 2004. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brandi Courtner. He was an employee of the Amalgamted Sugar Company and and a member of New Life Christian Church. He loved his dogs, his horses, basketball, hunting and Nascar. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl J. Courtner of the home; a son, Kenneth Courtner, Jr. of Wilkes County, NC; a brother, James Dean Shorty Courtner and wife, Sandy, of Butler; a grandson, Dillon Courtner of Wilkes Co, NC and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday from the chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. Rev. Norman Reece will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p. m. Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Johnson County Humane Society. Hux-Lipford Funeral Home is serving the Courtner family.
