Kenneth Wesley Jacobs

May 10, 1954 — January 4, 2024

Kenneth Wesley Jacobs, long-time resident of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

Born on May 10, 1954 to James Wesley and Mary Sue Jacobs, Kenneth grew up in Johnson City, Tennessee.  An avid sports enthusiast, he played football for and graduated from Jonesborough High School.  Following a diverse career that included traversing the country as a truck driver, working at GM for a number of years, helping others as an EMT IV tech, performing various roles at the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home, and volunteering as a firefighter, Kenneth eventually retired in 2018 from the Northeast Correctional Complex (NCC) in Mountain City, Tennessee after more than 26 years.

Blessed with a great sense of humor, he would often say that he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Snyder, in prison. Mary had joined NCC in 1991 and Kenneth had joined soon after in 1992.  It wasn't long before their love blossomed and they were married on September 25, 1992. A devoted husband, a loving brother, an affectionate stepdad, a warm hearted grandfather, a caring uncle, a cherished friend, and so much more, Kenneth was deeply passionate about his family, life, and his love of music.  He performed at both of his sisters weddings (Fay and Evelyn) and was a member of The Living by Faith Trio music group.

A member of Meadowview Baptist Church, Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Sue Jacobs; Mary's parents, Paul and Virginia Snyder; his sister and her husband, Fay Jacobs and Phillip Ball; his sister, Wanda Jacobs; and Marys brother, Allen Snyder.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Jacobs of Butler, Tennessee; stepson Brian Mink and his wife Beth of Butler, Tennessee; stepson Bradley Mink of Butler, Tennessee; stepson Travis Mink of Butler, Tennessee; brother-in-law John Snyder and his wife Barbara of Boone, North Carolina;
sister-in-law Lennis Snyder of Mountain City, Tennessee, granddaughter Kylee Mink of Butler, Tennessee; sister Evelyn Jacobs Meade and brother-in-law Donald Meade of Jonesborough, Tennessee; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family will receive friends between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home in Mountain City, TN prior to the service at 2 p.m..  The Reverend Richard Jones will be officiating.  Burial will follow on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park in Johnson City, Tennessee at 12 p.m..  Pallbearers will be Brian Mink, Bradley Mink, Travis Mink, Daniel Ball, Ethan Ball, Lee Meade, Jason Joyner and Nathan Joyner.
