Kenny Cornett

Kenny Cornett, age 77, of 206 Shoun Street, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Saturday July 14, 2012 at the Watauga Medical Center. He was the son of the late James Wade Cornett and Lacy Verna Fenner Cornett. Kenny was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN and he loved hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Selma Cornett on March 24, 2012, a grandson, Bobby Lee Hurd, Jr. and two brothers: Cecil Cornett and Harold Cornett. Survivors include: three daughters: Pamela Cornett of Mountain City, TN; Deirdre Hurd and husband Bobby of Abingdon, VA; Malena Jones and husband Danny of Mountain City, TN; two sons: Rick Cornett and wife Diane; and Jeffrey A. Cornett both of Mountain City, TN; eleven grandchildren: Missy, Hollie, John, Brandon, Josh, Travis, Karissa, Emilee, Chloe, Claire and Lacy; five great grandchildren: Matt, Mandy, Deanna, Makynna and Savanna. He is also survived by his beloved dog Roscoe. Funeral services for Kenny Cornett will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Teddy Lewis and Rev. Billy Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from Reece Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Dunn, Danny Jones, Brandon Greenwell, Matthew Cornett, Paul Johnson, Josh Cornett, Travis Jones, Billy Stanley and Bobby Hurd. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Cornett, Dwayne Cornett, Bob Horn, Pete Nichols, Jim Morefield, Tom Payne and Danny Cornett.
