Larry Powell Wilson, age 79, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Lakebridge Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility. Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Gar B. Wilson and Paris Sunshine Powell Wilson. He was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Dan Wilson, and close personal friend Jim Smith.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Crowder Wilson; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Mike Gillespie of Gray, Tennessee; son Jeff Wilson of Limestone, Tennessee; two sisters: Evelyn Wilson Hill and Carolyn Wilson Hawkins (Bliss Hawkins) both of Mountain City, Tennessee; grandchildren: Emmerson Gillespie, Reagan Gillespie, and Cooper Gillespie; along with several nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Larry was a member of State Line Baptist Church in Laurel Bloomery, TN. His hobbies included muscle cars and motorcycles, travel, his grandchildren, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Larry was a retired plumber and former business owner who was widely known for his extraordinary customer service. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in Operation Desert Storm. Larry never knew a stranger and had a nickname for everyone. He was loved, trusted, and admired by everyone who knew him and leaves a lasting legacy of love for his family and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Family will receive friends from 11:30am to 1:30pm on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home and Funeral Service following at 1:30pm with Pastor Dave Newbern officiating and music provided by Mr. Jason Hope. The Graveside Service and Internment with Military Honors will follow at Reece Memorial Park accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are: Larry Dunn, Mike Lewis, Darrell Trivette, Charlie Pace, A.J. Blevins and Ethan Simcox. Honorary Pallbearers are: The Men of State Line Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to The Crumley House in Limestone, TN. https://www.crumleyhouse.com.
