Laura A. Parsons (Aunt Laura), age 90, of 649 Horsecreek Road, Leesville, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004. Mrs. Parsons was born August 17, 1913 in Rexton, Michigan to the late Peter and Alice Mellon Goudreau. She attended Northern University in Michigan and earned a degree in early childhood education. Mrs. Parsons taught school in Wyandott School System in Michigan and retired in 1973 then moved to Mountain City, Tennessee in 1978 where she resided until 1994. She then moved to Leesville, South Carolina and resided with John and Joann Icenhour until her death. Mrs. Parsons was married to the late George H. Parsons. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. She enjoyed playing her piano. She was a member First Christian Church of Mountain City, Tennessee, where she sang in the church choir and was an Elder in Sault Ste. Marie Chippawa Indian Tribe. She is survived by her nephews, Frances Bellant of St. Ignace, Michigan, Wilbur Goudreau and wife Kathy of Northville, Michigan, Peter Goudreau and wife Barbara of Florence, Alabama, nieces, Betty Smith of Naubinway, Michigan, Mary M. Salter and husband Jack of Gould City, Michigan, Mayna Autsin of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, special family, John Scott and Russell Icenhour of Leesville, and many other nieces and nephews, family members and friends who lover her very much. Funeral Services for Mrs. Parsons will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004 from the First Christian Church in Mountain City, Tennessee with Mr. Buddy Zuercher to officiate. Family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. at the Church prior to Services. Music will be under the direction of Rick Ramsey and the First Christian Church Choir. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Tennessee. Hux-Lipford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements is Mountain City, Tennessee.
