Lena G. Garland

Lena G. Garland, age 84, of 728 Circle Drive, Mountain City, passed away Friday, January 31, 2003 at the Mountain City Medical Center after an extended illness. Mrs. Garland was a native of Johnson County and was born on January 27, 1919 to the late Daniel J. and Ada Proffitt Grindstaff. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church, a former employee of Tennessee Eastman, Kingsport, Tennessee, and was a member of the American Legion Post #6908. Survivors: Husband: Warren Garland, of the home (2) Brothers: Tommy Grindstaff, Lexington, North Carolina Ed Grindstaff, Mountain City, Tennessee (2) Sisters: Myrtle Forrester, Mountain City, Tennessee Leta Lewis, Mountain City, Tennessee Three Nieces, and Several Great Nephews and Nieces Funeral services for Lena G. Garland will be conducted 2:00 P. M. Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. Burial will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery Pallbearers will be friends Honorary pallbearers will be, Lon Ella Collins and Lois Arnett, of Kingsport The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 P.
