Lenore G. Pierce

Lenore "Gerry" Pierce of 296 Pierce Road, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Remington House, Kingsport, Tennessee. She was a native of Johnson County and was the daughter of the late David Clifton Pierce and Dora Shoun Pierce. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Teddy Boyd Pierce and Warren K. Pierce, Sr. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of Delta Pi Epsilon, a national graduate fraternity in business education, and a retired college teacher after 39 years. She was a graduate of Milligan College; received a Masters Degree and Specialist in Education Degree from Peabody College for Teachers, Nashville, Tennessee. Survivors are two brothers; Dr. Truett Pierce and wife Wanda, Sneedville, Tennessee; Bennie Pierce and wife Mary, Kingsport, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law; Sue M. Pierce, Mountain City, Tennessee and Marvella Pierce, Tallmadge, Ohio; twelve nieces and nephews, Marilyn Kerns, Columbus, Ohio; Patricia Cardwell, Sneedville, Tennessee; Nancy Seals, Sneedville, Tennessee; Janie Hopkins, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Mary Elizabeth Kappert, Jacksonville, Fl; Lisa Greever, Johnson City, TN; Gina Bowen, Powell, TN; Warren Pierce, Jr., Los Alamos, New Mexico; David Pierce, Knoxville, TN; Dr. Fletcher Pierce, Norfolk, VA; Hugh Pierce, Norfolk, VA and Cliff Pierce, Kingsport, TN. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Peterson, and Rev David Bentley officiating. Military Honors will follow from the Butler Memorial Cemetery accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. from the church. Pallbearers are Lynn Greever, Mick Bowen, Don Rankins, Hugh Pierce, and Cliff Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark McEwen, Bill Pierce, Herbie Adams and Dr. Fletcher Pierce.
