Lester Wayne Rominger, age 55, of 141 Noah Harper Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on June 22, 1950 in Watauga County, North Carolina, the son of Alfred and Pauline Holman Rominger of Banner Elk, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: James and Florence Rominger of Banner Elk, North Carolina; Reeves and Mary Holman of Mountain City, Tennessee, his father-in-law Floyd Harper of Mountain City, Tennessee and one brother-in-law, Wayne Harper. Lester was a building contractor and also a former Building Trade Instructor at Johnson County High School. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for 28 years, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Church Choir. Lester was also an Executive Board Member of the Christian Bible Ministries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, horses and reading. In addition to his parents, Lester is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sue Harper Rominger, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Rominger and wife Luray of Deep Gap, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Rominger-Gurley and husband Marvin Mac Gurley III (Trey) of Knoxville, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Kacie and Jesse Rominger; two step-grandchildren: William and Ryan DeJonge; one brother, Keith Rominger and wife Denise of Banner Elk, North Carolina; four sisters: Janette Fisher and husband Jerry of Fleetwood, North Carolina; Dalene Mast and husband Mike of Cove Creek, North Carolina, Judy Matheson and husband Keith of Sugar Grove, North Carolina and Janie Budd and husband Ken of Winston Salem, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Ruby Harper of Mountain City, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Robert Harper and daughter Katie of Sanford, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Thelma Garner and husband Ken and their sons: Jason and Logan of Groveland, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and many, many special friends. Funeral Services for Lester Wayne Rominger will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006 from the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Stout and Rev. Ralph Howard to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Bethany Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. prior to the Services at the Church. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2006 from the Wilson Cemetery. Family, Pallbearers and Friends are asked to assemble by 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at the Church to leave in procession to the Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Keith Rominger, Robert Harper, Ken Garner, John Hartley, Mike Long, Jim Hartley, RE Brown, Ronnie Matheson and Bob Graybeal. Honorary Pallbearers are: Ken Budd, Mike Mast, Keith Matheson, Jerry Fisher, Doug McGlamery, David Manuel, Tim Vanover, Larry Vanover, Erby Howard, John Holloway, Chris Baird, Hencle Matheson, Dennis Lewis, H. Long, Doug Harley and Neil Hartley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Bible Ministries, c/o Mike Whitehouse, 108 Valley View Acres Private Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683 or to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, Tennessee 37601.
