Lona Mae Stout Elliott Cunningham, age 89, of 1024 Old Hwy 67, Butler, TN passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2008 after an extended illness. Lona lived in Johnson County her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Jasper Stout and Ethel Lola Garland Stout and was of the Baptist faith. She was retired from Levi Strauss and her hobbies included gardening and making rag dolls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Fred Elliott and K. W. Cunningham; one daughter: Betty L. Phillips; three sisters: Mary Greer, Elsie Barr, Chelsie Moody; and three brothers: Earl Stout, Frank Stout, Walter Stout; and one son-in-law: Ogene E. Shepherd.
Survivors include: two daughters: Mary L. Shepherd of Elizabethton, TN and Verda Graybeal and husband Bobby R. Graybeal of Butler, TN; one son: Earnest R. Elliott and special friend Constance Scott (very special friend to Mom) of Elizabethton, TN; son-in-law: Darrell Phillips of Elizabethton, TN; one sister: Hazel Branch of Butler, TN; sister-in-law: Lucille Stout; seven grandchildren: Marty Elliott, Barry Elliott, Lori Deloach, Gloria South, Jonia Shepherd, Tim R. Graybeal and Tommy Tolley; eleven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend: Barry Pleasant and many others.
Graveside services for Lona Mae Stout Elliott Cunningham will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Phillips and Rev. Roy Wilson officiating. Active pallbearers will be Blaine Branch, Ray Branch, David Nichols, Eddie Williams, Wayne Stout, and Ronnie Shupe. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Pleasant, Frankie Shupe, Don Shoun, Glen Shupe, Gary Deloach and Truett Pleasant.
At other times friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Verda Mae Graybeal, 12469 Hwy 67 W. Butler, TN.
