Lucy was born on August 25, 1922 in Valley Crusis, North Carolina to the late George Wilson and Geneva Church Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Robert Wilson, Kenneth Wilson and Lawrence Wilson, also by a sister; Lois Buckland. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shady Valley Baptist Church. Lucy is survived by her husband, Fleet Garland, of the home, and one daughter; Brenda Blondell and husband James of Shady Valley, Tennessee, three sons; James Lester Garland and wife Linda of Shady Valley, Tennessee, Charles Edward Garland and wife Jean of Arcadia, Florida and Dewey Harold Garland and wife Idoma, Butler, Tennessee, one sister; Margaret Jackson of Bristol, Tennessee, three brothers; Ray Wilson, Bristol, Tennessee, Howard Wilson, Erwin, Tennessee and Jimmy Wilson, Tennessee, two granddaughters, Leann Shaffer of Bluff City, Tennessee and Renee Blakley of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. from the Shady Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Stout to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Blakley, Richard Shaffer, Lonnie Long, Tommy Garland, Chris Wilson, Ray Wilson, Robert Perry, Allen Jackson and Bill Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are: Shady Valley Fire Department and First Responders, Watauga Medical Center 3rd Floor West Wing Nurses and the staff of Mountain City Care Center. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the services, from the Shady Valley Baptist Church. At other times friends may call at the residence, 165 Fleet Garland Lane, Shady Valley, Tennessee 37688. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shady Valley Fire Department and First Responders.
