Luke Martin Morefield Jr.

Luke Martin Morefield Jr, age 63, of 8691 Roan Creek Road, Butler, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, he was born on January 18, 1941 to the late Luke Morefield and Nelle Winters Morefield. In addition to his parents, Luke was preceded in death by one sister, Diane Guy; one brother, James Morefield and three nephews. He was a former employee of Craftline. Luke was a big fan of the Tennessee Vols Football Team. He was a member of Rock Springs Church of Christ. Luke loved his family and his Grandchildren were the love of his life. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Teresa Morefield Calhoun and Gary of Abingdon, Virginia and Toni Morefield Crowder and Johnny of Butler, TN; two grandsons, Alex and Ben; two granddaughters, Tori and Kayla; he was also a special grandfather to Shelby Cress, Blaze and Paige Knight; six sisters, Bessie Hammons (Boyde), Mary Townsend (Wilbert), Peggy Woodard (Bill), all of Mountain City, TN, Gracie Osborne (Carl), Nancy Cannon (Clarence), all of Butler,TN and Jean Arnette (Junior) of Vilas, North Carolina; six brothers, Harold Morefield (Louise) of Mountain City, TN, Everette Morefield (Louise) of Meadowview, VA, Earl Morefield (Anna Ruth), Larry "Bud" Morefield (Kathy), Edd Morefield (Helen) and Stacy Morefeild (Martha), all of Butler, TN. Luke is also survived by a host of friends, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Luke will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Clayton Winters to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2004 from the Morefield Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Gary Wayne Laws Jr., Junior Canon, Joe Morefield, Jim Morefield, Dean Townsend, Luke Cannon, Brian Morefield and Billy Woodard. Honorary Pallbearers are: Mike Church, Edd Gentry and Jim Gentry. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to Services, at the Funeral Home Chapel. Those who plan to attend Graveside Services are asked to assemble at the Morefield Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
