Lydia Victoria Blackwell

Lydia Victoria Blackwell, 80, 417 Popular St. entered into rest on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. She was born, October 31, 1930 to the parentage of Joseph O. and Bina Jones Thomas. Lydia lived most of her adult life in Brooklyn, NY, until the passing of her husband, she then moved back home to Johnson City, where she resided the last ten years, Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Blackwell, her sisters, Clara B. Dickenson, Gertrude Brown, Irene Johnson, Lucy Anderson and her brother, Ralph Thomas. Lydia leaves to celebrate her life, one stepdaughter, Cynthia of NY, also her special daughter and niece, Brenda "Tot" Cole and her husband, Larry. A host of nieces and nephews. Lydia loved animals and never met a stranger. Lydia will greatly be missed by all. A special thank you to those who assisted Lydia during her brief illness. GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be held at 1 PM, Monday August 1, 2011 at the Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, TN. with Rev E. E. Widby officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Brenda "Tot" Cole, 1611 East Fairview Ave. at anytime prior to the services. Family and friends are asked to meet at 11:30 AM, Monday at Birchette Mortuary to go in procession to the cemetery in Mountain City, TN.
