Mae Wilfong

Mae Wilfong, age 96, of 5492 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at her residence. She was born on September 25, 1910 to the late John and Ora Rash Head. In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Wilfong, who passed away in 1958; two sons: Jack and Donald Wilfong; son-in-law, Kenneth Gernentz and two brothers: Dan and Oscar Head. Mae enjoyed spending her time traveling, seeing new places and meeting new people. She attended Hammons Chapel Christian Church. Mae is survived by two daughters: Gladys Gambill and Jolene Gernentz, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Jack Wilfong of Winchester, Virginia, Ila Mink, Donna Dunn, both of Mountain City, Tennessee, Nancy Hayes of Fairfax, Virginia and Darlene Engle of Amelia, Ohio and seven great grandchildren: Jason Dunn, Jeremy Dunn, Al Hayes, Adam Wilfong, Sam Wilfong, Patrick Wilfong and Shelby Engle. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Mae Wilfong will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Mr. Mike Smith and Mr. Bud Gentry to officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. prior to the Service at the funeral home. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007 from the Dunn Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Jason Dunn, Jeremy Dunn, Al Hayes, Adam Wilfong, Sam Wilfong, Bones Grindstaff and Chris Morefield. Honorary Pallbearers are: Patrick Wilfong, Shelby Engle, Dr. Alfred Earwood and Jim Head. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 5492 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
