Margaret Addison, age 87, of Mountain City, Tennessee went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. She was the daughter of the late George Dewey and Annie Steele Whitt. Ms. Addison was a member of First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included crocheting and cooking. Margaret worked for the Government at Oak Ridge helping make the atomic bomb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Addison, in 1981; one son, Wayne Addison, in 1996; one sister: Iris Smith and one brother-in-law, John Smith.
Survivors include: one daughter: Martha Dugger and husband Douglas K. of Mountain City, TN; three sisters: Edith Mullins of Cedar Bluff, VA; June Jarrell of Arlington, VA; and Geneva Patton and husband Ken of Richlands, VA; two brothers: Arville Whitt and wife Kay of Gray, TN and Kermit Whitt and wife Lou of Princeton, WVA; six grandchildren: Hannah Johnson and husband Brian; Rachel Taylor and husband Brian; Lori Dugger; Deborah Winstead and husband Chris; Daniel Dugger and wife Morgan; and Miriam Addison. Five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Margaret Evelyn Addison will be conducted Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Caswell and Pastor Dwayne Dickson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Richlands, VA. Friends and pallbearers are requested to meet at the cemetery at l:45 p.m. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Shine and the Staff of Mountain City Care Center.
