Marie Porter

We are saddened to announce the passing of Marie Porter on Sunday, January 28, 2024 in Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born March 31, 1945 in Johnson County TN to the late John Worley Norris and Nannie May Church Norris. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alden Carroll Porter. Marie attended Center view Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and loved flowers, gardening, quilt making and cooking. She always had an open kitchen and fed everyone that would eat and had a warm bed for anyone that needed it Those left to cherish her memory include two sons: Scotty Porter and Johnny (Janie) Porter, both of Trade, TN; three sisters: Earlina Revera of PA; Wilma Dowell of Mountain City, TN and Alice DeHart of VA; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Special friends Magdalana and Dave Dickens and the Mark Wilson family also survive. Funeral services for Marie will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from the Charles B. Hux Chapel of Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service will follow in Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Reece, Joey Porter, Matthew Patterson, Jon Bowman, T.J. Baldock and Dave Dickens.
