Martin R. Snyder, age 92, of 997 Crackers Neck Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Friday, March 18, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born on December 21, 1912 to the late Noah H. and Ollie Martin Snyder. In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Simcox Snyder, who passed away on March 3, 2005; one sister Susie Kimberlin; three brothers, D.L. Snyder, Robert Snyder and Sanford Snyder and one granddaughter, Angela Rambo. Martin was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a former Men's Sunday School Teacher. Martin was also instrumental in organizing the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Leonard and husband Charles of Murfreesboro, Tn; Bobbie Westmoreland and husband Rick of Mountain City, Tn and Jean Rambo and husband Malcolm of Bluff City, Tn; one sister, Eureka Grindstaff; one brother, Alex Snyder, both of Mountain City, Tn; two grandchildren, Mitzi Rambo-Mooberry and Marty Leonard and two great grandsons. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Martin will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2005 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Norman and Rev. Harry Bahlow to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Eddie Shelton. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Chad Greever, Larry Snyder, Jerry Grindstaff, Rick Westmoreland, Bud Rambo, Dean Stout and Steve Palmer. Honorary Pallbearers are the Men's Sunday School Class of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to Services at the Church. At other times friends may call at the residence, 997 Crackers Neck Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683 or the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
