Mary L Greer

Mary L. Greer, age 81, of 489 Pine Orchard Road, Butler, TN, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at the Watauga Medical Center. A native of Johnson County, she was born June 5, 1924 to the late Sam and Ethel Stout. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Greer; one son, Ricky Greer; one daughter, Patricia Dunn; two sisters, Chelsie Moody, and Elsie Barr; and three brothers: Earl, Frank, and Walter Stout. Mary was retired from Burlington Industries and loved quilting. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church where she was a former secretary, choir member, and treasurer. Survivors include two daughters: Wilma Moore, of Mountain City; Betty Potter, of Elizabethton, TN; one son, Junior Campbell, of Lenoir, NC; two sisters: Hazel Branch and Lona Cunningham, both of Butler, TN; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Mary Greer will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2006, from the chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. R.L. Poole and Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. A visitation will be held from 6 until 8:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006, from the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. for services. Active Pallbearers will be: Donald Stanley, Tracy Greer, Keith Stanley, Dustin Stanley, Nick Reece, and Jeff Dunn. Friends may call at the residence of her daughters, Wilma Moore and Betty Potter, or at the home of her daughter-in-law, Debbie Greer. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Amber Stanley, who went above and beyond.
