Mary Jo Lipford

Mary "Jo" Lipford, age 85, 2480 Hwy 421 N, Mountain City, TN passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 after a brief illness . She was born December 16, 1928 to the late Joe Allen Cooper and Flora Woodson Cooper. Jo was a member of Liberty Christian Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ray B. Lipford; one sister: Eunice Pearson and one brother: Elvis Perry Cooper. Survivors include three sons: Eric Lipford of the home; David Lipford and wife Gail, of Mountain City, TN; and Bradley Lipford and Rebecca Humphrey, of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Michael Lipford, Jason Lipford, Carson Joe Lipford, Shelby Michelle Lipford, Landon Michael Lipford and Sonja Marie Lipford; one great grandchild: Little David Lipford; and several nieces and nephews. Special friends Betty Reece and James Hayworth also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 from the East Side Memory Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Maurice Widener officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 in Phillippi Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hayworth, Jason Lipford, Michael Lipford, Loren Garland, T. J. Walters and Bradley Lipford.
