Mary Carmelita Phillips-Scott

Mary Carmelita Phillips-Scott, age 70, of 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness. She was born on May 22, 1936 to the late William and Ruth Ann Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanie Jenkins and one brother, Kenneth Phillips. Mary was a retired nurses assistant. She enjoyed crocheting and painting landscapes. Mary is survived by her former husband, Frank Scott of Pulaski, Tennessee; one daughter, Jennifer Smith of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sons: Christopher Potter of Mountain City, Tennessee and Bruce Potter of Pennsylvania; three sisters: Helen Icenhour of Mountain City, Tennessee; Nell Tester of North Carolina and Betty Mabery of Pennsylvania; three brothers: Dave Phillips, Denny Phillips, both of Mountain City, Tennessee and Joe Phillips of Elizabethton, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2006 from the Phillips Cemetery, Sandy Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, with Rev. Doug Stidham to officiate. Active Pallbearers will be family and friends of Mary. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. on Sunday at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home, prior to the Services.
