Mrs. Mary “Virginia” (Warren) Poe, age 84, of Lansing passed away peacefully at her home, June 12, 2022. Mrs. Poe was born in Grant, Virginia on June 30, 1937 to the late John Fitzgerald and Dora Ruth Warren. She was a housewife and very proud of it. Her family was her life, nothing else really matter, putting her family’s needs before her own. She was such a selfless person, always thinking of others. She was a very hard worker all her life. She always liked staying busy, loved being outside, mowing, weed eating, etc. She loved cleaning and always kept an immaculate house. That was just her, cooking and cleaning. Getting up at 4:00am to make homemade gravy, homemade biscuits, eggs, sausage, bacon or ham. Very dedicated, giving her children what she missed most in life, a mother, but she always talked about her mother, the Christian woman that she was, putting her children first, making church and the Bible first priority. She was a long-standing member of Long Branch Baptist Church. Our mother followed in Grandma’s footsteps, putting church & God first. We went to church just like “breathing”. She taught us respect and genuine love. We all respected each other. What a void there will be without her here with us. We know she is rejoicing and walking those streets of gold. In that beautiful land God has prepared for us all. What a day that will be, when we meet again on Heaven’s Golden Shore. She is playing that piano and singing in the angel choir just waiting for her family, her church family, her friends and loved ones to meet her there. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Allen Poe; brothers, Robert Warren, Bill Warren, Ray Anderson and Rex Anderson; a sister, Lyla Rutherford. She is survived by two daughters, Sue Barker (Butch), of Lansing and Dianne Guy, of Crumpler; three sons, Rev. Dennis Poe (Brenda), of Lansing, Tim Poe, of Lansing and Johnny Poe (Sherri), of Jefferson; a sister, Kate Wright, of Abingdon, VA; twelve grandchildren, Vickie Segraves (Johnny), Rev.
